The PlayStation Network provides online access to features such as games, movies, TV shows etc to its users.

Today, Sony Corp. said that sensitive information belonging to its users may have been compromised during the attack. There are approximately 75 million users at risk. The hackers could have accessed users’ email addresses, log-in information, birth dates, purchase history and billing information.

According to a representative, there is no solid proof that any credit-card data was taken but it is possible.
I don’t play PlayStation so luckily, I am not at risk. There have been many such attacks recently. On March 30, customer data was stolen from Epsilon Data Management which sends out emails for big retailers and banks such as Best Buy, Walgreens, CitiBank and Chase.

As a precaution, I would recommend that you be careful about incoming emails. Big companies will never ask you to reveal your personal information in an email. Also, if you think your information has been hacked, change your log-in information as soon as possible.

If you are a Google fan, you may already know that Google TV is finally here. Google TV has been in the news for a long time now and after all that wait, it has arrived. The idea is simple: TV + Internet. Internet is finding its place in almost every technology – cell phones, ipods etc. Now it’s time to merge internet and TV together. TV has changed extremely within the past year with the ability to store programs to watch them later and other features. Merging TV with internet will allow viewers to customize their TV experience even more.

Lets take a more detailed look at some of the main features of Google TV.

Features

Search – It is GOOGLE TV, so there has to be search feature. This feature will allow you to search your TV channels, programs, applications and the entire web on your TV. Pretty handy, if you don’t know where you saved your last episode of Two and a Half Men.

Web – Probably the most exciting feature about Google TV. Aren’t you curious about how it would feel to be able to watch TV and surf the web on the same piece of technology? No more going to your bedroom to check the program listings. Just relax in your living room and enjoy your new Google TV.

Apps – They are everywhere these days and they make the existing technology even better. What would your iPod be without all those apple apps? Currently, you can download apps like twitter, pandora, netflix and many more. Wait few more months and you will have tons of more options.

Remote Control – The TV comes with a QWERTY remote control which you can use to both change channels and surf the web. You can also use your phone as the remote!

Dual View – Torn between watching TV and surfing the web? Well, no need to worry. Google has taken care of that problem for you by enabling dual view. You will now be able to do both at the same time!

DVR enhanced – If you have this service, you can find and record your favorite TV shows (like The Big Bang Theory) and watch them at a later time.

Retailers

Google TV technology can be bought as a standalone TV from Sony or you can buy the Logitech Revue and use it with your current HDTV.

The standalone TV comes in four sizes: 24″, 32″, 40″, 46″ with prices starting from $599.00.

Opinion

I personally cannot wait to try out this revolutionary piece of technology that will change TV forever. However, if you are considering buying it, right now might not be the best time. I would suggest waiting a while so that you get more options.

It is speculated that this acquisition will allow IBM to obtain technology that will allow customers to construct their own marketing campaigns.

Earlier this year, IBM’s CEO, Sam Palmisano, said that IBM has a set budget of $20 billion for acquisitions for the next five years. IBM’s software unit has made approximately 60 acquisitions in the last seven years and is expected to be responsisble for 50% of company’s earnings by the year 2015.

Unica has an impressive customer base which includes Ebay and Best Buy among others. Unica employs 500 people.

I am curious to see how IBM handles this acquisitions and takes advantage of it.

After all the hype, few months ago, iPad failed to excite Apple’s fans but it seems like they are doing their best to keep the interest up. Many complained that iPad was just a bigger version of iPod touch and that it did not have enough features to have such a high price tag.

Recently, it has been revealed that when Apple’s latest gadget will hit the stores on April 3, 2010, it will come with 30,000 free Ebooks for the users. Where did these E-books come from? These books are from Project Gutenberg’s library.

Apple’s iPad can be thought of as a fancier version of ebook readers like Amazon’s Kindle. Recently, these ebook readers have been getting very popular and companies have noticed that they can be very profitable. Sony, Amazon and Barnes and Nobles all have their own ebook readers and now Apple will join the competition too.
